Nicknames for Les Parisienes

By: Thomas | August 17th, 2009

A while ago I saw a post like this over at the Real Madrid Offside, where they came up with nicknames for their squad. It seems a need has emerged here for nicknames, as some PSG players (Sessegnon, Luyindula, Makelele, etc.) have names that are long and difficult to type. There are some existing ones for a few of our older stars (props to Elias for posting these), Such as Maka (Makelele), Ludo, le Petit Prince, and Speedy Giuly (Giuly), but i think this offside needs some of it’s own. Here’s our squad list, and as nicknames are posted in the comments, i’ll add them to the list. I’ll get it started with a few.

The Official PSG Offside Nicknames List: Final Version

1 GK Grégory Coupet-The Old Guardien
2 DF Ceará-Cece, Albuquerque?
3 DF Mamadou Sakho
4 MF Claude Makélélé (captain)-Maka, Noises
6 DF Grégory Bourillon
7 MF Ludovic Giuly-Ludo, Petit Prince, Speedy Giuly
8 FW Péguy Luyindula-Dula
9 FW Guillaume Hoarau-“Affaire du Siècle”
10 MF Stéphane Sessegnon-Money, Argent
11 FW Mevlüt Erdinç
12 MF Albert Baning-Albert BANNEDing
13 DF Sammy Traoré
14 FW Mateja Kezman-Batman
15 DF Zoumana Camara-ZouZou
16 GK Willy Grondin-Reunionnais Reject(I think this is kinda harsh)
17 MF Granddi Ngoyi
18 FW Loris Arnaud
20 MF Clément Chantôme-Petit/Nouveau Didier
21 FW Jean-Eude Maurice
22 DF Sylvain Armand (vice-captain)
23 MF Jérémy Clément
24 DF Tripy Makonda
25 MF Jerome Rothen-Jerome Rotten
26 DF Christophe Jallet
27 MF Younousse Sankharé
28 MF Maxime Partouche
29 FW Yannick Boli
30 GK Apoula Edel

Please help me think of some, my fingers get tired trying to spell Majeta Kezman Mateja Kezman!

LOL at the Old Gaudrdien. I’m adding that one. I’m good with Cece (although it reminds me a bit much of Cici, Cicinho), and I’m probably missing something but I don’t understand what Albuquerque has to do with Ceara.

thnx again. I didn’t think much of cece either. ceara’s real name is Marcos Venâncio de Albuquerque, so that’s why it could be Albuquerque. Mateja Kezman is batman: http://www.gfdb.com/Player.8808.Mateja-Kezman.aspx
read the biography section it says why. Makelele could be noises, cuz thats what his name means in swahili. Chantome: petit didier. because he remids pple of DD.

@Elias: a)I get it about Ceara. The thing is Ceara is shorter and easier to type than Albuquerque, so…
b)YES! we have a nickname for Kezman. sweet. I think i’ve heard this before, and was wracking my brains for it, i just couldn’t find it. Mateja Kezman=Batman from now on.
c)Haha. Noises, that’s hilarious. I’m putting that up pronto.
d)ok, i’m good with the petit deschamps thing.

@Rama: ZouZou is great, that ones going up.

Haha at Bob’s comment. Willy Grondin is the Reunionnais Reject. He’s from Reunion and has made 32 career appearances in 13 years professionally. Thats about 2.5 appearances a year. I think that qualifies as being a reject.

Also Albert Baning: Albert Banneding because he has a history of red cards, thus suspensions or bans.

Who I really want nicknames for now are Luyindula and Sessegnon, because their hard to type, and Hoarau (and maybe Erding and Armand) Because they’re key players. Anyone got one?

How about “Affaire du Siècle” for Hoarau? For non french speakers, it means bargain of the century, which is what someone high up in the club called him when he arived.

Dula for Luyindula. It’s easy to type and to say. I guess i should clear this with the Luyindula expert though. Rama? your thoughts?

Dula sounds good. It has sort of an African touch, which is good since he was born in Kinshasa and it’s catchy and suits him.
