a brilliant surprise

By: j | July 27th, 2008

In an off-season that will surely become known as the revitalization of PSG with the arrival of Claude Makélélé and Ludovic Giuly to-date, the brilliant surprise to many has been the play of Stéphane Sessegnon.

I know for many to call Stéphane a “surprise” might be inaccurate but since his arrival from Le Mans the twenty-four year-old playmaker has quickly made a name for himself and in yesterdays friendly at Parc des Princes it became clear that there is a new star on the horizon in la ville lumière.

His talent has never been questioned but I very much doubt the magnitude of his talent that we have seen so far was to be expected. The youthful work-rate, disguise the clever brilliance that seems to be gaining confidence with every moment on the pitch. I would like to tell you he has integrated with the team well but that would be misleading because in-fact he has elevated the tempo and rhythm of Paul Le Guen’s squad to his level. It is the hallmark of a great player, taking others to a higher ground and now with the genius of Claude Makélélé beside him and the predatory skill of Ludovic Giuly in-front, the attack has the promise of one of the best in Ligue 1.

Stéphane Sessegnon, a brilliant surprise for PSG faithful.
