Claude Makélélé issues statement

By: j | January 22nd, 2009

Claude Makélélé has issued the following statement via the Ligue de Football Professionnel in order to clarify his position on the Charles Villeneuve situation:

“Sébastien Bazin started the process two years ago and it was with him and his representatives that I discussed coming to the club in the summer of 2008. It was down to his ambitious project that I signed. I have always enjoyed an excellent relationship with president Charles Villeneuve and I appreciate the work he has put in.

The statement further adds, and I suspect given it is written in the third person is per the club:

“Mr Claude Makelele intends to concentrate on his role as captain, to focus on finishing the season well, and with the professionalism that has always characterised his approach to the game.”

I love PSG. They’re kind of like the Amy Winehouse of professional football.
