Clément Chantôme is a trace cautious

By: j | July 23rd, 2008

For many around Football the summer months are a trace boring. Little action and all clatter of “who” might be going where, if such and such moves “here”. I have to say, while much of that is true, I enjoy this rather whimsical period where optimism abounds and seemingly every team is on the verge of hoisting a trophy and promotion to the upper levels of the game. Of course, like the seasons of the year, fall arrives and reality for many squads sets in very fast.

Clément Chantôme is obviously a trace on the cautious side. Within interviews with Le Parisien and France Football, he expressed the obvious leadership that has come from Ludovic Giuly and Claude Makélélé but further added a sense of caution and a sense of fear that the club is not out of the woods yet.

I can respect his opinion, however caution and fear are not something that need to be embraced and in-fact need to be squashed. Of the major problems last season was the disease of lacking urgency and not being bold.

You got it right. No one showed courage and took responsibility last season. But then PSG didn’t have enough players with that quality. It was a chance for some youngster to establish a reputation but I would say they failed at it.
