closing in on Claude Makélélé
By: j | July 19th, 2008
The saga of Claude Makélélé is appearing to be near a climatic scene with terms between Chelsea and PSG being worked out. There is still some meat left on the contract, notably its length but as I alluded to, the crux of this move will seem the French international grow from his playing days to a ambassador of the game within PSG.
Le Parisien also points out that Sébastien Bazin, CEO of Colony Capital SAS, one of the clubs co-owners, personally spearheaded the transaction and has worked out the deal with Claude. This should be clearly noted because while their had been some criticism of upper management since the acquisition in the spring 2006, the Sorbonne graduate, with his office steps from Champs-Elysées is committed to PSG’s resurgence.
How the addition of Claude impacts the play of midfielder Jérémie Clément remains to be seen but the first step is ensuring this deal is completed.

I read somewhere that he’s off to Paris to undergo a medical. Might be a rumor but you know the old saying, where there’s smoke there’s a pyro around laughing his ass off. Or something. Anyway, a great signing if it goes through.
