Coupe de la Ligue appeal
By: j | July 18th, 2008
After being banned from this upcoming Coupe de la Ligue, PSG has launched its second formal appeal with the Appeals Commission of the LFP in hopes of reinstatement and defending its victory. The club was banned due to a very a controversial racist banner that was displayed during the final. From the formal statement:
“The club reminds people that on June 26, 2008 it placed an appeal to the French National Olympic and Sportsman Committee (CNOSF) in opposition to the decision taken by the superior appeals commission of the FFF having confirmed the exclusion of the club from the next Coupe de la Ligue.
“Now, at this stage of the procedure with the CNOSF, the decision to exclude PSG is therefore suspended until the outcome of the appeal is known, in conformity with item 24 of Decree number 2002-114 of August 30, 2002.
“Under these conditions, PSG must be reinstated in the picture of the next Coupe de la Ligue 2008-2009.”

The banner against Lens really was too much..I think PSG should sit out this season, just to show the fans the consequences for doing something like that.
I was actually a little disappointed when they decided not to overturn the results and replay the game. I can’t believe they would display that banner in front of Sarkozy and the rest of the world.
