Shame that PSG went down yesterday. They clearly deserved the win. Nice were lucky the goal post was their 12th man. I felt bad for Erding. He worked so hard and really deserved a goal or two.

Yeah, I know. I feel like a change in management is in order. With the squad we have, 12th place doesn’t cut it.

I think PSG manager is fine. PSG lacks good defenders. Apart from Sakho & Armand none of the defenders are sound. Camara is injured. Without 2 holding midfielders PSG would crumble.
Attack wise PSG need to finish off chances. Once PSG can play their best team consistently, they will improve their league standing.
Just buy a good reliable CB in January. With return of Hoarau PSG should be able to finish top 5.

In terms of the defense I don’t completely agree. Sakho and Armand are solid, and I don’t have that many problems with Ceara/Jallet. We’ve got good options at right-back, but Kombouare isn’t using them correctly. Once Camara is back the defense should be set. Traore is unreliable. Also, the team seems to preform better without two DM’s. Against Sochaux we played with one and look how that turned out. As I have said before, Chantome NEEDS to be in the side.

2 very well taken goals and an assist. That was some performance by Chantome.
What type of player is Chantome? He is always played as a Defensive midfielder but he never excels at being one. Where was he playing against Braga?

He’s more of an attacking center mid, which is where he was played against Braga. If one of our starting strikers is injured, we should play like this:
Coupet
Ceara-Camara-Sakho-Armand
Maka-Clement
Giuly-Chantome-Sessegnon
Erding/HoarauPosted from

I hope Chantome stays happy this season. Next season with Maka gone Chantome Clement partnership in the middle will flourish.
I like your formation that includes Chantome at his best position. I doubt Kombourae will ever play him there.

Thomas: is the live blog going up today?

Sorry guys, I’ve been away from a computer until now, so I missed all the Ligue 1 action on Friday and Saturday.

Chris and I were watching the second half while skyping back and forth. His comment afterwards:
“Isn’t a derby supposed to have some kind of…drama?”
The part I saw was a huge snoozefest, but yes, alas, PSG was outplayed.

Thomas what happened with the reclaiming the 1993 league title thing?

PSG should have stayed with Paul Le Guen, he’s a great coach. Last year if it wasn’t for the political troubles, the club would had won the league and reached at least quarterfinals in the UEFA Cup. Bad decision from the club’s management

if PSG losses against boulogne, Kombouare will be sacked.

I think that the club should hire a coach that can make play the team good and win titles fast. Such as: Hiddink (with a good offer he could leave Russia), Juande Ramos (out of contract) or even bring back Luis Fernandez (out of contract) and lets remember that he is PSG’s MOST SUCCESFUL COACH! with one Coupe de France, one Coupe de la Ligue, one Trophée des champions, one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and one UEFA Intertoto Cup. I will love to see LF back. Or bring back other old coaches like Houllier or Artur Jorge (that although his style of play is boring he’s effective).

Laurie: OL-OM was enough drama to last Ligue 1 for a while.
Diego: Unfortunately I haven’t heard anything about the 1993 title thing, otherwise I would have posted it. I completely agree with your sentiments regarding Paul Le Guen. I was shocked that they let him go, although I have come to terms with Kombouare. I’m not particularly worried about Boulogne, as we beat them earlier in the season with a B squad, and I would also like to see Luis Fernandez back at the club.

This game was inevitably going to be boring (I realize this only in hindsight) given that it was after a long international break and the drama surrounding Henry– hardly anyone cared/was paying attention. The fact that it was on a Friday probably didn’t help either- it just didnt have the same atmosphere as the normal Classico.

Thomas can you tell what are the top ten Highest transfer fees paid and the top ten Highest transfer fees received of PSG?
Posted from

I’ll have to do some research, but the highest fee we ever paid $47,500,000 for Anelka from Madrid, while the highest fee we have received was the $43,000,000 for Ronaldinho to Barcelona. We sold Anelka to Man. City for $27,500,000, which has to be up there as well. We sold Gabi Heinze for $11,500,000, and bought Pauleta for the same amount. I’ll research and get back to you.

Makelele’s salary is missing, just fyi. Kezman and Giuly are WAAAAAAY overpaid. Kezman’s salary is completely ridiculous. I’d like to know how this compares to other ligue clubs.

Oops, thanks for catching that. His salary contributes significantly to the payroll. I completely agree about Kezman, and I’m working on finding info about other clubs. If I find info i’ll put up a post about it on the Ligue 1 blog.
