Coupet Out for the Rest of the Season
By: Thomas | November 28th, 2009In case you haven’t heard, our number one keeper and former French international Gregory Coupet is out for the rest of the season after horrifically fracturing his left leg while attempting to prevent a corner in the 82nd minute against Auxerre today. He went immediately to the hospital for surgery and we will know more about the severity of the injury tomorrow. Here’s what Kombouare had to say…
“It’s a very serious injury, it’s shocking. It sends a chill down your spine. We’re losing a great player and a big leader.”
Way to state the obvious Antoine. Here’s video evidence of his statements (if you speak french).
If you’re in the mood for gory details…
“I was close to the incident and I saw the bone poke through his sock.”
Ugh. Thanks for sharing Monsieur Armand. Get well soon Gregory, we need you!
Anyway, this leaves Edel Apoula to take over the goalkeeping duties, at least until we can sign someone else (probably on loan). I’m a little nervous about this, but lets see how it goes.

Man, this guy just can’t catch a break.
Wait, that was a poor choice of words, wasn’t it? Sorry.
Here’s to a speedy recovery!

Some reports have come out saying it will only be three months, so we’ll have to see. Anyone have ideas of a keeper we could grab? Is Charles Itandje still at Liverpool?
