Defending problems for Paris Saint-Germain

By: j | March 25th, 2009

Following two successive losses the international break couldn’t come at a better time for Paris Saint-Germain. Exhausted from the demands of play, the lack of bench depth has been a telling story for les Rouge et Bleu and as evidenced by this past weekends loss to Toulouse, they are becoming prone to mental errors.

While Le Classique against l’OM was a match that was effectively settled with Zoumana Camara, against Alain Casanova’s Toulouse the wheels came off the cart as the Parisians were victimized with a series of academy mistakes that resulted in goals. Four points out of first place with nine matches to go Paul Le Guen has acknowledged that they have little room to slip up but equally with Lyonnais and Lille, the ink has not dried on Paris Saint-Germain’s title aspirations.

That said, the Parisians efforts will be greatly hampered with the loss of vice-captain Sylvain Armand, who is out for four-to-six weeks with a knee injury. Suffered in the Toulouse debacle, the already troubled PSG back-line will need to adjust quickly with the left-backs omission.
