Everton to Fluminense

By: j | August 1st, 2008

I think this won’t get top headlines in the news but the year long transfer of Everton to Rio de Janeiro based Fluminense that has just been arranged, is important for a variety of reasons.

From the players development, the twenty-one year-old striker Everton Santos (referred commonly as “Everton”) has shown good promise since joining the club in January from São Paulo’s Corinthians but clearly his development schedule wasn’t in line with the clubs needs and he wasn’t going to see the type of playing time he needs. Now with the move to Fluminense he will compete for a position and develop in the Brasileirão.

From a much broader standpoint, the club needs to constantly develop its ties outside of Europe and really work at these forms of relationships, of which this is a good step.
