FC Nantes match preview

Nantes new manager Elie Baup has his work cut out for himself as the club has started the new campaign in Ligue 1 miserably with a single point after four matches. Since taking over last week he has had to deal with a porous defense and an offensive attack that has yet to get untracked. However they do have a number of promising players, particularly Croatian striker Ivan Klasnić and Serbia’s midfielder Stefan Babović and are capable of better play then they have shown. However they have been playing like a defeated squad, lacking confidence and spending more time thinking how things will fail as opposed to how to succeed. For Mr. Baup, discipline in marking, lines and concentration is key or they will dig themselves a deep hole early that might be impossible to get out of.

PSG will be hampered with the loss of Claude Makélélé for the match and Mamadou Sakho for upwards to six weeks. Sammy Traoré or Larrys Mabiala are expected to step-in for Mamadou with Jérémy Clément taking Claude’s role. Paul Le Guen will be careful with fatigue levels as they face Kayserispor of the Turkey’s Süper Lig in UEFA Cup action next Thursday. PSG is said to be experimenting with a 4-2-3-1 using Mateja Kežman as the lone striker and will look to choke Nantes hopes early and crush their wounded confidence.

I will report on match as it concludes.
