getting closer to Ricardo Oliveira

By: j | July 24th, 2008

The word on the street is that deal for Real Zaragoza’s Ricardo Oliveira is getting down to the fine lines now and although this is far from a completed story, there are only a few pages left to turn. However as you may have guessed the Brazilian Striker has garnered a great deal of attention and will be a costly venture, certainly the most expensive of this off-season. Where this deal, or should I say series of deals with many of the Strikers involved is the match-play of transfer season with a lot of midnight candles being burnt.

The courtship of Stade Rennais‘ Jimmy Briand was left with PSG’s reportedly €8-8.5m being refused (€8.5m just doesn’t go very far these days, does it?). To counter-act this and given the lack of teams who can or will go higher in the picture, Monaco’s Fréderic Piquionne is said to be readying for an offer. However this volley towards Fréderic has a much to do with leaning Lyon away from Ricardo Oliveira by forcing their counter and softening up the hard-line stance of Rennes President on the pricing of Jimmy Briand.

We’ll see how this works out but I thought I share with you some of last nights in-play decisions.

If PSG is not careful, Lyon will buy Briand, and Lille will buy Piquonne. Leaving you with a less then formidable striker in Olivera, who will only give you one season on loan.

that is the scenario they’d like to see though and push other clubs to spend more then they’d like. Interesting match-play

I think Olivera will be a terrific signing even if on loan. Also why do people rate Briand so highly? Can I get some videos where he has done something out of ordinary?

Have fun with him. He did nothing at Milan and we’re glad to be rid of him!

He isn’t Inzaghi, Pato or Shevchenko to succeed at Milan. He should be ok with PSG.
