Jimmy Briand update 2
By: j | July 27th, 2008
PSG’s interest of Stade Rennais Jimmy Briand, is apparently a priority of the club per a number of sources (France Football, L’Equipe). Siting club President Charles Villeneuve, Jimmy Briand will continue to be a priority even though the club is pursuing Mateja Kežman of Fenerbahçe. Further suggestions of Le Mans Defender Marko Baša are equally noted although details related to this are only speculative in nature.
I will post updates when further information is noted. With regards to sources, I am unclear of the original source on these comments as these are being noted by both groups but will attempt to substantiate.

I think PSG should focus on Briand. Kezman is a great player, but he is getting old. He is nomore that player which once scored almost a gol per match.
Briand is 22 and would be a great signing.

I’d be more concerned about goals rather than age. Kezmen is older but he has more of a proven goal scoring track record. Yeah Briand is 22 but his goals per game ratio is terrible.

Kezman used to score a lot when he was younger and played on easy leagues (Netherlands and Serbia). Playing for Fener his ratio is not that high and while he was playing for Chelsea and Atlético de Madrid he was terrible.
Briand is young and may only improve his soccer.

André |/ Sportboy - thank you very much for your comments.
I think the bargaining situation with Mateja Kežman is making it near impossible to avoid. Fenerbahçe’s acquisition pace may put PSG is a favourable position and the price of Jimmy Briand is consistantly being bid up.
