Ligue 1 Season Preview

So here we are, 24 hours from the beginning of the new Ligue 1 season. We were a strong team last year and have only strengthened that position this summer. This will be a year in which we are the title challengers that we should be. Our amazing squad consists of internationally seasoned veterans in Claude Makelele, Gregory Coupet, Mateja Kezman, and Ludovic Giuly. Le Parc de Princes is also home to stars in their prime such as Guillaume Hoarau, Stephane Sessegnon, and Melvut Erding, as well as young talent waiting to blossom (Sakho, Chantome, Boli, etc.). Vive le Rouge et Bleu! and lets hope for the predicted 4th to 7th place finnish!

Our fist match of the season will come away against newly promoted Montpellier HSC, on Saturday, August 8th at 21:00 CET.

Montpellier finished second in Ligue 2 last year, only cementing their promotion on the last day. Although they are relegation favorites, they have a strong history and have bolstered their squad with Ligue 1 veterans this season. This should be helpful to find out more about our first opponents. In the past they have beaten us the majority of the time at the Stade de la Mosson, but a change in fortunes is in order.

I am expecting us to take the season opener, and am predicting a scoreline of 2-0 for le PSG.

Unfortunately I will not be able to comment on the day of the game, as I will be traveling, but I will give a full report on Sunday.

  I am going to the game, As I live just outside Montpellier, and I’ll give all of you a first hand report when it’s over. I think we’ll end up at about 5th place.

  Yeah I saw it. It was pretty devastating. It is certain that PSG needs Hourau back. Montpellier played with 10 men for over an hour and Paris couldn’t put them away.
