Ludovic Giuly!!!
By: j | November 9th, 2008
PSG ended its two match slide with a 1-0 victory over Lille at Parc des Princes with the lone goal coming from Ludovic Giuly. Visiting Lille, riding a nine-match unbeaten streak, came out with intent and was clearly the aggressor to the dismay of home supporters. After early attempts, the match became a box-to-box affair with few true scoring chances with both teams demonstrating sound defensive play. However in somewhat of a surprise turn of events, Lille suffered a defensive error in concentration and marking as with five minutes remaining in the half Mickaël Landreau’s long pass was headed-on by Guillaume Hoarau to Ludovic Giuly who subsequently plowed the ball into the back of the net. With the lead, PSG was intent to lock down the match, which they did like a charm and Lille’s attempts were little to fear of. Through the course of the final third of the match the most surprising aspect of play was how little Lille ventured forward and PSG strolled to the 1-0 victory.
The victory catapults PSG to eighth in the table with their next match against Nancy Lorraine in the Coupe de la Ligue.

They need to give importance to their European campaign as well. Not clearing the group stage would be a very poor result.
But a good goal from Giuly which should settle the nerves somewhat in Paris.
