Match Report: PSG 1-1 Lyon
By: Thomas | September 22nd, 2009
Report:
We really just can’t deal with those last five minutes, can we? Lyon traveled to Paris on Sunday in an extremely important match, one that could have been vital to the seasons of both clubs. PSG dominated from the outset, testing Hugo Lloris numerous times, and the Lyon team looked a bit lethargic. PSG finally took the lead in the 29th minute when Ludovic Giuly tapped the ball into the net after some wonderful passing inside the OL box. Les Rouges et Bleus continued to dominate and it was a combination of poor finnishing (looking at you Monsieur Hoarau) and some brilliant goalkeeping from Hugo Lloris to keep the score at one nil. Then, in the 85th minute, Clement Chantome was fouled just outside the PSG box by Ederson. The PSG players paused, expecting a whistle, but none came, and Lyon’s attack continued. Aly Cissokho crossed to Lisandro Lopez, who flicked it on to a miles offside Bafetimbi Gomis. Tap-in, goal. The match finished 1-1. News Nuggets:
1) Goal.com think PSG want Mascara from Catania. I have better things to do than watch Serie A, like build a scale model of the Eiffel Tower out of toothpicks, but isn’t this the guy who scored all those goals from about 50 yards?
2) The honorary match kickoff at the Parc on Sunday was given by Pauleta, the longest serving season ticket holder, and an academy player.

3) Apparently we’re playing US Boulogne Cote d’Opale tomorrow in the Coupe de la Ligue. Woohoo. I’m so excited I can’t even bother to preview it. It did take me a second to remember they’re in Ligue 1 though. Good thing about this: The match counts for Sessegnon’s suspension, meaning he’ll be back for Lorient. If you really do care about the match you can probably find something about it here.
Allez PSG!

Lyon a cheater like Marseille. Aulas pressured the referee in the mid-time. That’s why the line referee didn’t saw the offside of Gomis.
