Matchday 9: Toulouse vs. PSG

So, in case you’ve been living under a rock/aren’t a Ligue 1 fan (which actually is technically living under a rock, but that’s another topic for another post) PSG are in a bit of a rut. Let’s just say we haven’t won in the Ligue since Matchday 4, when we beat Lille on August 30th. For a team with plans to improve on last season’s sixth, that’s what I’d call a failure. Yes, since August, my beloved PSG have been failures. Well, guess what? Tomorrow at 21:00 CET we get to play last season’s fourth place finishers, Toulouse. TFC have arguably the best French player, Andre-Pierre Gignac. They also have more French internationals than we do (although considering the fact that all of PSG’s players could potentially be Scorpio’s, this might not be saying anything). However, despite these factors, Toulouse are in 16th place and tied on points with 19th place Nice. That means that our inevitable win (humor me, ok?) could send them into the relegation zone. They also have some injury problems. Key defenders Mauro Cetto (who’s also the captain) and Mohamed Fofana are out, along with midfielders Antoine Devaux (who?), Fode Mansare, and Pantxi Sirieix (who has the strangest name ever, Basque maybe? I always think Pantsy Serious to myself). The aforementioned Gignac is doubtful, as is Etienne Didot. Final piece of good news: Guillaume Hoarau will be fit to play! OK, on to the bad stuff. Mevlut Erding is still out (still!), Maka is sick (excuse me? people who invent positions don’t get ’sick’), and Peguy Luyindula injured himself trying to tackle someone (he can’t do anything right, can he?). Most news of injuries shamelessly borrowed from Dave Trotter’s awesome injury post. PSG’s official website decided to contradict him. They say Erding and Luyindula will be available. Who do we believe? And how could I forget, of course Papus Camara is still out. We have quite the injury problem. I think we’re even rivaling Lyon’s of last season.

Le Groupe Toulousain: Y.Pelé, Blondel – Congré, Nounkeu, Tabanou, Ebondo, M’Bengue – N’Gadi, Braaten, Sirieix, Machado, Berson, Mou.Sissoko, E.Capoue, Luan – Gignac, Pentecôte, Soukouna.

Le Groupe Parisien: APOULA Edel, ARMAND Sylvain, ARNAUD Loris, BOURILLON Grégory, CEARA Marcos, CHANTOME Clément, CLEMENT Jérémy, COUPET Grégory, GIULY Ludovic, HOARAU Guillaume, JALLET Christophe, LUYINDULA Peguy, MAKELELE Claude, MAURICE Jean-Eudes, NGOYI Granddi, SAKHO Mamadou, SANKHARE Younousse, SESSEGNON Stéphane, TRAORE Sammy.

My Prediction:
12-0 for PSG. No, that seems a little off. Maybe 1-0 for Toulouse.

So, I’ll be doing a COVERITLIVE thing tomorrow starting a little before the match, join in, and make it as fun as the last one!

ALLEZ PSG!

I wish we would win, but I don’t see it happening! See you in an hour!

Well, the reason I predicted a PSG loss is that every match since the Lyon draw I’ve predicted the slide down the table to end, and every time I’ve been wrong. So, reverse psychology, y’know…
