Mateja Kežman to play against Sochaux-Montbéliard

By: j | August 19th, 2008

After a summer searching and extended negotiations, Paul Le Guen got what he wanted with a top-flight striker as PSG formerly announced the signing of Mateja Kežman to the public.

Mateja fondly remembers playing at Parc des Princes:

“I remember that match. I played well and the atmosphere was fantastic. Now I can’t wait to play here again – I’m fit and I’m optimistic.”

He is likely to feature in PSG’s upcoming match against Francis Gillot’s Les Lionceaux in Montbéliard but I will post additional information once confirmed.

Hey J, any news on his weekly salary, and if it’s going to be split PSG & Fener or just by PSG?

Terms haven’t been officially released so everything is speculative, although it is widely talked about that he repaid Fenerbahçe €1m and PSG is absorbing his entire salary.

If it’s just a loan deal, do you think PSG will look to buy another player with what transfer money they will be saving?

Villeneuve said they still need another player even if kezman signs.

Aaron – They are definitely looking for another player, more in the defensive area however unless there is a corresponding sale I don’t expect it to be a very high cost. It has been a challenging year for the ownership group’s core business and they are managing the bottom-line very closely.

Rai – I actually didn’t even post that rumour because I know he prefers to stay in the Premier League. I would rather see them make a move for Saint-Étienne’s Mouhamadou Dabo. They missed a great opportunity for Habib Bellaid formerly of Strasbourg. Discussions with Rennais are not positive right now or there are a host of players that have tremendous potential.

Silvestre would have been a truly amazing signing. He just got sold to Arsenal, though.

it’s almost funny that it was suggested by the media because Mikaël Silvestre never gave any indication that he wanted to return to France and it was purely the media creation. Maybe they can start a rumour of Gaël Clichy or Bacary Sagna to occupy their time – lol

The influence on David Beckham in football (off pitch) will have to be summed up with tattoos and metrosexuality…

    @ Magnusson

    Stupidest. Comment. Ever.
I wasn’t informed that Beckham invented tattoos and tattoing and that having tattoos as a footballer is copying Beckham, or is testemony to his influence off the pitch.

As far as Kezman goes, he has stated many times that tattoos are his biggest vice; it started with his daughter’s name on his forearm and now, according to him (and as many people with tattoos can attest), he can’t stop. A metrosexual he most definitely is not (and how you managed to infer that from the pictures is beyond me).

Kezman is a great striker. Fast, both, with and off the ball. Fatastic goalcorer, he’s scoring from almost every position. Similar type as Pauleta. He needs one good assistant midfielder to feed him with balls. He will be great sign for PSG, you will see. Greetings from Serbia.
