Mateja Kežman update 3

By: j | July 27th, 2008

As a further update to the Mateja Kežman situation, while talks between clubs stalled at €2.5m, given the speed in which the Xabi Alonso to Fenerbahçe deal is proceeding, the Istanbul club is apparently is willing to part with him for the fee of €3 - 3.25m.

I have independently confirmed this and it is said to be factual and accurate. The lynch-pin is the success of Luis Aragonés ability to attract some of Spain’s Euro championship and with a variety of deals in the works they need to resolve situations like this quickly. The stumbling block for PSG is Mateja’s very large salary which is something that needs to be weighed.

I will update with any new findings.

I know Kezman’s not young anymore, but €3 million seems quite reasonable to me. What’s his salary, do you know? Any chance he’d take a cut in order to move somewhere he’ll get regular time?

Martha - thats the problem with the deal. He has a large salary (I think I reported earlier in the €2.5m range) and isn’t about to start taking major cut-backs at this stage. Additionally PSG is getting a lot of back-room attention right now as it is “open for business” with more mature players looking to play in Paris. This is getting very interesting -

btw - remember if you ever have questions to feel free to email me personally as it is only by chance if I see them. I input via a PDA and the browser is considerably different.

I dont think he’s leaving. Fenerbache are stocking up and are poised for a big European run.
