Mikaël Silvestre rumours
By: j | July 30th, 2008
So by now you hopefully get my horribly dry sense of humour when it comes to dealing with the rumours that are so typical time of year. They really seem dreamed up by the media looking for content and are often lacking in any common knowledge of the sport. I suppose you could argue that the Louis Saha rumour could possibly happen and its great to know that club President Charles Villeneuve would like to bring in Alessandro Nesta next season but they are basically water-cooler chit-chat. Which of course brings me to the new entry in the rumour mill; Mikaël Silvestre.
The classy, thirty-year old centre-back started his professional career at Stade Rennais and after a brief stop at Inter Milan joined Manchester United in 1999 where he has been since. He’s amassed a solid career under Sir Alex and is a part of the core of veterans that he counts on. As he enters his tenth season he is additionally going into rare-air as part of the Red Devils alumni. While some might argue that he wouldn’t make this move because the following season he can transfer free and garner a greater contract, the truth is he knows of what the distinction of decade of service to Man Utd will mean long after his playing days are over.
Therefore these rumours are highly unlikely.

I think it’s highly unlikely too. Bordeaux was interested in him in the beginning (Blanc wanted someone to fill Jemmali’s spot, and he picked a player he’s worked with), but he said he wasn’t interested in coming back to France. I don’t think it’s much different with PSG..
