PSG 3-0 Fiorentina a.k.a. We are ready!
By: Thomas | July 29th, 2009In a spectacular display today in Florence, le Rouge et Bleu beat a “fatigued” Fiorentina side with goals from new signing Melvut Erding, Ludovic Giuly, and Peguy Luyindula. Here are the extended highlights from the first half:
And from the whole game:
The Fiorentina side seemed flabergasted by PSG and never put together any important attacks. Here’s what Alberto Gilardino had to say about the match. Fatigued, eh? I’d say you were outplayed, Mr. Gilardino. You could make all the substitutions you wanted to, so I would hardly say fatigue was an issue.
Player Ratings:
Coupet: Didn’t have to do that much, but made saves when need be. I’m giving him a 7/10.
Ceara: He did well to set up attacks from the right back position and was also good deffensively, although he let Vargas through early in the game causing a bit of a scare. 6.5/10
Bourillon: Was good aerially, breaking up opposition attacking moves with nice clearances. He could potentially challenge for a starting spot this season. 7/10
Sakho: Had little to do, but made well timed challenges and effectively shut down Alberto Gilardino, which is no easy task. 7.5/10
Armand: Did well protecting the left flank and contributed to the attack by swinging in some nice crosses. 7/10
Sessegnon: Was all over the place, dribbling two deffenders at a time, helping out on defense, shooting and deserved a goal. His assist was beautiful, and his overall preformance was spectacular. 10/10
Makelele: Had a simple game. His physical play was good in midfield but he was not a major contributor. 6/10
Clement: His passing was good and his tackling was strong and well timed. A solid game. 6.5/10
Giuly: Was constantly causing trouble for Fiorentina along the right flank. His running and dribbling were great and he took his goal well. 8.5/10
Luyindula: Despite his goal, a tap in which he nearly bungled, Luyindula did not have the best of games, most notably missing a clear cut chance by firing straight into the keeper. 5/10
Erding: Erding was constantly working to get the ball and played very smoothly with the rest of the team. His effort on the first goal was highly commendable. 8/10
Substitutes:
Incomplete. Chantome, Traore, Ngoyi, and Jallet all made appearances but had little time to make an impact.
After this game I strongly believe we are ready for the regular season. Bring it on!
