Rumors…

By: Thomas | July 27th, 2009

I haven’t updated on the rumors circling around Le Parc des Princes in a while, so here goes…

In:
Gabriel Heinze: Real Madrid seem eager to get rid of the veteran left back, and Heinze has stated his eagerness towards a PSG return in the past. This could very conceivably occur for under 5 million euros. I can see this potential transfer as being very beneficial to the club, as Heinze can play in the center as well as on the left, and would almost certainly be first choice. I’d say there’s a 65% chance of this one happening.

Kerlon: Kerlon Moura Souza, Inter Milan’s young Brazilian striker, is another potential transfer target. He was on loan at Chievo all of last year and would probably be available again with an option to buy. Marseille are also reportedly interested, so there could be a battle for his signature. He seems extremely talented, so I would certainly not object to the loan idea as if he comes good we could take the buyout clause and if not we could terminate the loan. I’d give us a 45% chance because even if we do decide to pursue him, Marseille’s Champions League spot could lure him south instead.

Yohan Mollo: Monaco’s technically gifted young winger is apparently on his way out after contract negotiations became drawn out. PSG is interested, along with Hertha Berlin and Roma. The latter should provide tough competition and Mollo may follow fellow former Monegasque Jeremy Menez to the Olimpico. The cost for Mollo may be on the high end, due to his potential, and I’ll estimate around 10 million euros He will be available on a free if the negotiations fail as this will be his first professional contract. If we can get him, it will be a spectacular signing, adding more creativity to the left side of the midfield. I’d give us a 20% chance on this one.

Out:
Jerome Rothen: PSG officials have made it known to Rothen that he is no longer needed at the club and is free to leave. So far Rothen has attracted the attention of Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers, both of whom seem very interested in signing him. Rothen will almost certainly leave this summer and I feel it will be for far less than his value. His departure means it is absolutely necesary to sign a left midfielder/winger by the end of the summer. This transfer has about a 95% chance of happening.

Tell me your thoughts on these potential transfers…

    Does Mollo actually has a professional contract in Monaco? If so, wouldn’t he be free?

    Glad i could help. This make Mollo even more interesting for paris and his lake of cash. I heard monaco offered him 40 000 euros a month and he wants 55 000 euros a month. Definatly affordable, even for paris.

    @Elias: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerlon

    I find this seal dribble thing interesting ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seal_dribble ). It’d be nice to have a showboater at the Parc des Princes. He’d be the first since a certain Ronaldinho Gaucho.

    And we may get Heinze and we may not, If Real sign a left back we definitely will.

    I feel like lyon, who never have exciting transfer windows, are finally having an exciting transfer window and we’re having a boring one when it’s usually exciting. :(
