Sessegnon and Coupet Speak of their Ambitions
By: Thomas | August 14th, 2009Today seems to be PSG players talk to the English press day, as we’ve got two non google translated interviews for you.

Stephane Sessegnon wowed fans last season with his amazing pace and skill, and has decided to talk about his reasons for staying at the Parc de Princes (Knock on wood)…
‘I’m happy here and it’s great to kick off a new season with this club, because I have a lot of ambitions to fulfill here. Sure, you think about leaving, but I had time to weigh the pros and cons and in the end I said to myself “there’s no point in leaving now. I have time”. The most important thing for me is if I have to leave, it’s going to be with a title under my belt.’
His thoughts on last season…
‘I was hoping the team would finish higher than we did. But personally, I’m happy with my performances, with what I showed last season. But I know I still have to pull off something huge this season.’
And his goals for this season…
‘We have to believe in ourselves. We have to tell ourselves that we’ll be fighting for a top-three finish, that’s crucial. This needs to be our launching pad for the season, but we can’t get carried away. Our off-season recruitment was done intelligently and most of the team stayed on, and the consistency will do us good. We know it’ll be very, very tough, but we have to tell ourselves that we have the quality to do it. We have a strong squad and a new coach who is very ambitious, so we too have to show that we have the desire and that we’re capable of big things.’
I’m totally with you Stephane. You impress me more every day.

On to Monsieur Coupet, who tells us that we aren’t as to him as Seattle Sounders are to Freddie Ljungberg…
“What is certain is that I do not come to Paris for early retirement. Live with the pressure, it keeps you alive. I don’t proclaim to everyone that PSG will be champions, but it should be our ambition. We in Paris aim high. In Lyon, if we didn’t believe, nothing would have happened. When you look at our training centre, our stadium, our fans, why not believe? We must reach a European cup.”
And to wrap up the optimism for the day, Guillaume Hoarau has been included in the squad for Le Mans tomorrow, which means there’s at least a possibility that we’ll have our spectacular striker playing again.

This is good news about Sessegnon. I am feeling really positive about this season. This game is a necessary win though to get off to a good start.
