“stay focussed on the pitch”
By: j | January 30th, 2009Via the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), PSG captain Claude Makélélé noted the optimism and needs of the club:
“We’ve got a chance of doing something in the league, starting on Saturday against Caen.
“We have to stay positive. I have already been in this situation at other clubs, and in the space of a week, you can be out of two competitions. So we mustn’t tempt fate.”
As far as recent controversy, he said it would not deter their efforts:
“I’m used to putting things out of my mind and concentrating on what’s important, the pitch.
“Nothing surprises me in football. We’ve talked about it together, and we said that we have to stay focussed on the pitch, even if it’s difficult. It doesn’t change anything for the team, but it changes things upstairs, and we are subject to decisions made up there.”
Of his future, he added:
“First of all, I’m going to finish the season, take what there is to take, and then I’ll take my time to think about things,” he said. “I’ve got time.”
