Welcome Zoumana Camara

Yeah we have signed a new player! Camara is a strong central defender from St-Etienne. He has played for the French Team once and he’s looking to be part of the squad at the 2008’s Euro. So being in Paris will help him to be in the spotlight of the coach.  He has a 4 year deal with the team, so I can guess that he will play back with Mario Yepes….aie!!

  First off, congrats on the blog, I’ve only begun to read it of late, and I’ve been quite enjoying it.

  Camara is a good signing, although I think more than likely PLG knows he can also play at right back, which would vacate the other center back slot alongside Yepes for Digard or Bourillon, our other 2 major summer signings. Considering how badly he wanted to come here, I don’t believe Camara will have any issues doing that. The right back position is expected to be vacated since Bernard Mendy has been linked to Celtic/ASM.

  Anyway, Zoumana is coming off a very good season at ASSE, and though I think it’s doubtful he’ll go to Euro 2008 (last I checked, there’s Gallas, Mexès, Thuram, Squillaci ahead of him), he definitely can serve the club very well in the years ahead.

  Any word on Mendy coming to Celtic? I haven’t heard anything in the last couple of days. Is he essential to PSG’s plans this year, and how do you rate him?

  I doubt Mendy is essential to PSG since there are all these transfer rumors, while no one at the club is defending him like they are with Rothen. I think the sad thing is, though, we don’t really have anyone to replace him (except I think Camara will do well there, though that’s me, it’s not his preferred role).

  We’re not the only ones that have that problem, though. Right back is an issue I think across all of France. At the moment, there aren’t any outstanding ones, and the ones who could become outstanding like Bocaly are a year or two away.

  Now that Sagna and Faubert have left France, other than Clerc, there are no internationals at that position.

  Camara will do good to the defense, because last year it was not the best…Not a big fan of mendy because he is very instable in the back, caused some games last years.Maybe we can give a chance to the new players from the training center…Will see!
