Manager for a Day
By: Thomas | August 11th, 2009
I know the season has already started, and that our transfer season is probably over, but it’s a slow news week, and I couldn’t let a Mercato go by without one of these posts.
The game we’re playing on this post is simple. Pretend you get to be Antoine Kombouare for a day. Think about the transfer budget we have, probably around 2.5 million euros left over, add realistic profits from any sales you would like to happen, and than buy players for a realistic sum with the 2.5 mil. plus any sales.
Here’s mine:
Out:
Rothen-5 mill
S. Traore-1 mill
In: (8.5 mill budget)
Kerlon-6 mill (gotten really into this guy)
Jonathon Brison-2.5 mill
Go to it!

Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.

If we get 3 milions for Rothen, we can considere ourselves lucky. Even if its Bourillon who played to cover Camara in the 1st game, Traore is very appreciated for his spirit by everybody in the club, i doubt they would sell him now. What about Mounier or Mollo to take the position of Rothen over. And Kallstrom to be playing next to Makelele. Let sell Kezman as we have enough players able to score, plus we could play with 1 forward few games if necessary. Send a couple of kids on loan to save wages. That could be short but Mollo is free and Lyon dont really want to keep either Mounier or Kallstrom.

Pierre: I have heard reports of 5mill bids for Rothen from Blackburn, so I would hope tat he would fetch that much, but you may be right. I agree that Traore is a good influence, but we have many young players who can cover the center back position who need playing time, and having a forth choice like Traore would prevent that. Jallet can also play as a center back, limiting Traore’s remaining uses. Mounier or Mollo would be excellent, but I’m afraid Lyon will be charging more than we can afford for the former. I agree that Kezman would be a good player to sell. Kallstrom, if gettable, and Mounier would be amazing buys.

Thomas, I heard PSG were interested in Kembo

Oh, I haven’t heard about this. He seems like a decent player, although I don’t remember seeing him in the Rennes games i’ve watched, but I feel like PSG already has an overabundance of forwards, and I think he might be overkill.
